Welcome to Marilyn Todd's Art Workshops Equine Art Workshops

Each day will include some sketching, demonstrations and critiques, but the majority of the time will be spent working on an individual piece. Beginners are welcome, but previous painting experience is recommended. Bring favorite painting materials and brushes, but plan on experimenting with some of the materials provided by the studio.

Dr. Daniels has been a college instructor since 1970 and conducting workshops in her studio since 1990, bringing 50 years of painting experience into each exciting day. Her students have received many awards and scholarships over the years. Some are now teachers themselves. Her approach to teaching is simple. Let the student lead with his or her passion. She just aids them in telling their story to others.

Most asked Questions:

Where will I stay?
There are three rooms available at WoodSong for $45 per night which includes a continental breakfast and midnight snacks. (Choice of rooms in order of enrollment.) Lodging in local motels in Sherman and Denison is available for reasonable rates. Most beautiful is the Holiday House in Whitewright, a bed and breakfast with a Victorian flair, $65 to $85.

What will I wear?
Shorts or jeans, t-shirts and mosquito repellent. One change of decent clothing for a night out.

How do I get there?
DFW in Dallas is the closest airport, about 1 and a half hours away. Maps will be sent on request. Driving is best so you can carry all your stuff.

What about food?
Let us know about special diets. Lunches are catered, but dinner is up to you. The kitchen is available for anyone who wants to cook. Many good restaurants are within half an hour, but plan on a Texas barbeque Friday night, our treat.

What do we do for recreation?
Generally the evenings are spent in critiques or researching the library. Some sit outside in the garden, drink wine and swat mosquitoes. Mostly we talk about horses and art.
